The Straja resort is located in Hunedoara County, at an altitude of 1445 meters, in the heart of the Vâlcan Mountains, in the Jiu Valley, about 8 km from Lupeni. The tourist complex consists of 210 cottages, holiday homes, guest houses and villas. Of these, 70 are homologated with 1, 2, 3 and 4 stars. Straja was declared a local tourist resort in 2002. There are 12 ski slopes in Straja, each equipped with a cable car (ski lift). Five of them also benefit from a nocturnal facility, making it possible to use the slopes until late at night. They are serviced by snowmobile machines, raccoons, to keep them in the best possible conditions for skiing. Through the 12 ski slopes, the Straja resort totals about 26 km of the ski area. Of these, 20 km are covered with artificial snow. The 11 cable cars provide you with easy access to all the slopes of the resort. Due to the construction of the telegondola and the chairlift on the Straja Peak there are new slopes, the longest being the Straja Path, with a length of 8.1 km.
